Humans have always felt the need to tell stories - to make sense of the world, to connect and to remember. It’s how we share what we’ve seen and felt. Woodcut printmaking is one of the oldest ways of doing just that - carving images and text on wooden blocks and creating prints that could travel, be shared and seen by many.

In this hands-on experience, discover the joy of transforming a simple block of wood into your own Christmas-themed art print. Guided by a professional printmaker, explore every step of the process from design transfer and carving to inking and printing while tracing the centuries-old journey of this deeply absorbing craft.

About the Host

Craft India Collaborative (CIC) is an experience-led platform dedicated to promoting and preserving India’s traditional crafts through contemporary, hands-on workshops curated for urban audiences. At CIC, heritage crafts are reimagined through immersive, premium learning environments that encourage creative expression, cultural appreciation, and meaningful engagement with artisanship. By blending artistic exploration with cultural education, CIC creates new platforms for artisans while fostering a deeper understanding of India’s rich craft traditions.
Founded by Garvi Kotak, a multidisciplinary designer and researcher, CIC is rooted in her academic and cultural journey across Craft & Design, Furniture Design, and Anthropology. Her exploration of sustainable design has spanned traditional crafts as well as industrial practices, leading her to integrate long-lost craft techniques into contemporary contexts. Alongside her design practice, The Design Studio, Garvi is actively involved in teaching and consulting with multiple institutes. A trained Kathak dancer, her deep connection to Indian culture further informs her work. Through an anthropological lens, she bridges heritage crafts with today’s fast-moving world, creating experiences that are thoughtful, relevant, and rooted in tradition.

What's a 'Trove Experience’

As our cities swell, we tend to do fewer and repetitive things for recreation. With Trove, you get to break the monotony and explore fresh activities in your city, meet like-minded souls, and develop a deeper appreciation for the finer things.

Most of us likely resonate with terms like 'workshops' or 'events.’ What makes these an 'experience' is the energies we put into scouring the right artists, creators and storytellers, to ensure that each Trove Experience leaves you enriched with meaningful moments to collect for your very own treasure trove.
