Title

We have all folded paper as kids, unaware of the geometry, precision and attention to detail that went into making simple paper boats and planes. A flat sheet of paper, if folded well, can become such complex 3D forms that we often forget it is, in the end, just a series of folds.

That is Origami: the Japanese craft of paper folding, where you can create almost any shape. A bird, a flower, a box, a crane - all created without cutting, sculpting or assembling separate pieces.

Join us and unfold the fascinating world of origami. Discover the philosophy behind the craft, examine different kinds of paper and notice the variations in texture, weight and flexibility. Learn to create an origami crane and a table lamp and experience firsthand how this ancient art is as much about the mindful process as it is about structural precision.

About The Host

Mugdha Dandekar is a visual and experience designer based in Pune who designs for a living and practices origami for her soul.

She began her origami journey in 2020 during the first lockdown after attending a workshop by origamist Aditi Anuj of Adigami Studio. What started as curiosity quickly turned into a deeper pursuit of the craft. Mugdha later collaborated with Adigami Studio on an origami booklet for kids and contributed to Paper Shaper, an origami illustration column in the Times of India weekend supplement.

Through creating instruction illustrations, she explored and experimented with folds to better understand the structure and possibilities of origami. For Mugdha, origami is a form of therapy; it keeps her calm while constantly nurturing her curiosity.

What's A 'Trove Experience'

As our cities swell, we tend to do fewer and repetitive things for recreation. With Trove, you get to break the monotony and explore fresh activities in your city, meet like-minded souls, and develop a deeper appreciation for the finer things.

Most of us likely resonate with terms like 'workshops' or 'events.’ What makes these an 'experience' is the energies we put into scouring the right artists, creators and storytellers, to ensure that each Trove Experience leaves you enriched with meaningful moments to collect for your very own treasure trove.
