An Exploration Into The World of Matcha

If there’s one drink people always have an opinion about, it’s matcha. Some love it instantly, some grow into it. What you’re tasting is the whole leaf, finely ground and not infused which is why the flavour, colour and energy feel so distinct. It’s also what sets matcha apart from most drinks and why it’s become such an interesting global favourite.

In this experience, you’ll explore the flavours of Matcha, Genmaicha and Hojicha with a seasoned tea connoisseur. You’ll brew each tea hands-on, learn the fundamentals of whisking and make a smooth ceremonial-style matcha as well as a matcha latte. You’ll walk away with a clearer understanding of Japanese tea, along with the skills and confidence to bring it into your everyday routine.

About The Host

Based in Mumbai, Reagan Creado is known for his taste in Asian teas, having amassed a large collection of tea ware over the years. What began as a hobby, subjecting his family and friends to all kinds of strange teas, has evolved into a lifelong pursuit for fresh tea.
Only using un-flavoured whole-leaf tea often sourced directly from producers, he likes to brew tea the old-people’s way, often stretching a single portion of leaves for a whole day.
Trained in the art of Chado under the Urasenke School of Tea, he enjoys pursuing the perfect matcha brewed the traditional way. Reagan’s day job is as a landscaping designer where he integrates edible, colourful and useful plants into multi-functional gardens and layered food forests.

What's A 'Trove Experience'

As our cities swell, we tend to do fewer and repetitive things for recreation. With Trove, you get to break the monotony and explore fresh activities in your city, meet like-minded souls, and develop a deeper appreciation for the finer things.

Most of us likely resonate with terms like 'workshops' or 'events.’ What makes these an 'experience' is the energies we put into scouring the right artists, creators and storytellers, to ensure that each Trove Experience leaves you enriched with meaningful moments to collect for your very own treasure trove.
